RE: Engine Smoke

All 2s engines smoke on start up EFI or carbs. Don't know about new doo 2s 600 etec but will know soon.

RE: '08 SKIDOOs- early verdict?

popsicle well my first reactions is you really want to sell your pantera! Yamaha 120 4s fuelie more like 126hp in 2009. 08 Yam 120 engine uses very expensive carbs like their bikes. Owners who have Yamaha bikes over the years know & like those carbs. Really not a big deal to those in the know but I would want 4s fuelie too. A few weeks away & will be here. Good advice is too wait & see since so close to 09 release. Your pantera should sell quickly put on consignment at dealer & will be sold quickly.

RE: Skidoo Releases new 4 stroke new chassis

I agree with doo direction etec & 4s. XR & XP 800r, etec 600, now 130 4s an awful lot of new products all at once may prove to be overwhelming to support at both dealer & factory level. My buddy is still struggling with 2008 XPX 800r handling, 8-9 miles per gallon, 65 miles to liter of oil. Answers from doo superdealer have been slow. He is at xcrossroad now after 750 miles & first year XP to keep struggling with XP or trade in on 2008 or 2009 Yamaha Nytro. I think doo has an awful lot on their plate & may be just too much. All this tech is great but is it supportable? Stuff breaks, recalls, part availability, dealer service knowledge curve, will keep me away for a couple of years for sure. No test monkey business for me.

RE: '08 SKIDOOs- early verdict?

llrnr:The poo dealer probably has no interest in locating another non current for ya. Not a money deal for him. What you want is out there. Go to poo website & print off dealers in a 150 mile circle & start calling around until you find what you want & sometimes better stuff too. That is what I did to find my 07 Attack & same dealer had 2 07s only hour away for me. These dealers are more than happy to sell sleds over the phone & tell ya what they have in stock. I have located sleds for my buddies & they have done the same for me. Post your request on johndee Misc.& you will come up with a couple non currents in single day. Lots of sledders from IN & IL there & they will hook you up pronto as we all hang out at dealers to shop or talk about new toys. I hope this helps. whitedust

Polaris needs your order if you like the sled. 08 800 Renegade will be sold soon & won't be around long. Take your time on the poo & cut a good deal.

RE: Yamaha Vector GT

I never heard an owner of a Vector say anything bad about the sled. Great gas milage much better than poo 600 & 700 2s engines by 6 or 7 miles per gallon more. Vector has broad power band & just as fast as 600 & 700 polaris sleds & more at top end. Vector has remote adjust rear suspension so he can dial in his cushy ride with one hand. Electric start, reverse mirors, good wind protection... what else would he need? Riding position of poo sleds & vector simular too. Good choice he will love the sled don't worry.

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

Pro x blew up in twistys not on RRB. Poor guy was working very hard all over the sled. My Attack much less effort & better results. If you prefer twistys to wider trails go with nytro if you want yammi 4s. 08 FX Nytro 138 very capable sled. Pro x guy didn't like the Nytro stand up preferred to sit in stance of Attack. Me I ride both WI & UPMI so like Attack on both twistys & grades. I liked Nytro a lot but thought I should sit in too & purchased Attack. Nytro still in my blood tho.

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

Doo has new 4s in town & a whole lot more doubt than Yammi 4s sleds in any case. Saw a guy today with poo 800 pro x blow chain case I thought he blew belt but anyway called Pat's Yamaha in UP to pick up pro x then test rode Nytro & Apex & purchased used 06 Attack & rode off tickled pink with his new Yamaha. People are buying Yamaha 4s big time in UPMI trading in 2s any brand

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

I have not heard doo 1200 weight yet but 499 is very good weight for 130HP 4s if honest weight. It would be great to throw a leg over that bad boy & put it to the test. So far I can't find one to test ride...no leads at all but still calling around & doo dealers don't know much yet. SG now has 2 130HP 4s sleds to test head to head may be 3 if AC can get a few more ponies from Jag. I love progress but doo still needs to prove this sled will hold together both engine & chassis. Yamaha is proven 4s product & could have a lot of new models in 2009. Have to see what they release in a month or so to compare 130 specs.

If the doo 130 4s pulls better than Yamaha 130 hp it will make 150hp 4s obsolete.

RE: Any one ride an FST IQ???

tricky12 if you are serious about 4s you need to ride the Yamaha line up as you found out poo fst has probelms. 08 Vector or Apex will blow you away performance & handling. My buddies 06 Vector does 105mph & my 07 apex does 117 mph no problem. Purchase anything other than 2s etec or proven 4s would be a mistake. 4s & etec tech moving very rapidly & standard 2s is old old stuff now. Poo & AC in real trouble in 2009 after what doo has revealed!

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

Does not make much sense to compare 80hp bottom of any line of sleds at least compare 120hp to 120hp tech as bulk of market users. Bottom end is trickle down tech with all OEMS. Most users today are looking @ 125 to 150hp sleds & Yamaha shines in that hp. You are much better to purchase used 120 hp sleds than pay premium on new entry level 80hp sled. No bang for buck on new entry level. If you compared new 80hp poo would be dead last but not fair to their dragons. Ride a 120 Yamaha 4s then tell us what you think compared to rev.

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

The 2s oil useage vs 4s oil change is competitive a lot of variables for 2s oil cost. ETEC don't know yet. The smell thing is no contest. I can now smell 2s when I start pulling on them in the twistys. I can't see them but you start to smell 2s about 1/8 mile away then you see them as you close in. On 2s when you are surrounded by 2s exhaust you don't no how bad it is. When you ride a Yamaha 4s you are exhausting out the back & leave gases & noise behind you. When following another Yamaha 4s I can't smell a thing & it is a very dramatic change from 2s. I now know why 2s smell is an issue with Greenies now that I ride a 4s.

RE: Looking for 2 sleds for the family

Once you buy a 4s you are done with 2s FOREVER! Now I know why Doo released etec ASAP as 2008 & half new product. The change to 4s is very dramatic no smell in air, on you, in clothes & great mpg. AC will offer more 4s in 2009 & Poo may be doomed unless they release new Poo 4s & drop Weber engines. Yamaha already all 4s sleds & looking good. Buddy bought Yamaha Rage on Saturday & was with doo for 15 years. He loves the clean air on his new Rage.

RE: Any one ride an FST IQ???

You need to go north but well worth the effort. Next Yamaha complete line up test ride I know about is Cruiserfest Minoqua, WI Feb 8,9,& 10th. Yamaha takes group rotations on about a 10-15 mile trail ride & lets you air them out. At the half way mark they stop answer questions & let riders trade sleds. I attended test ride in Hancock, MI in early December and rode new Yamaha line up from about 1PM until 4PM & helped factory reps gas up sleds & load semis. It was a total blast!! Then I purchased non current 2007 Attack about 3 weeks later. Most UP MI Yamaha dealers will let you ride whatever thay have used or have a demo sled good to go. Easy to get on Yamaha sled to test ride in UP MI & they take most sleds in trade. I don't know what Poo does from factory but FST 4s is small part of total line up so may be tough to test ride. FST is ok sled but has Weber engine with turbo compared to solid Yamaha straight up HP 4s engines. If you understand turbo tech you know turbo puts much more strain on engine to develop same hp. On Apex Yamaha has free money for 6 months & $1,100 rebate & can purchase 48 month warranty for $499 which results in 5 year warranty. What is soooooo cool about 48 month warranty is that it is transferable to next owner. With that 48 month warranty you can sell the sled in one day on the internet & will be turning buyers away. No risk at all for used buyer because he has warranteed sled from you. Cool or what? I hope this helps because sled test ride and Yamaha perks sold me hands down compared to any sled or other company.

RE: '08 SKIDOOs- early verdict?

Etec low oil use would cause lubrication concerns for me. May be pistons would get enough but factory sealed crank bearings are already a huge problem on doo 600s & 800s engines. Anybody know etec600 HP as sdi 600 was a little weak at 118HP compared to Poos 125 hp 600. I would think etec600 will be wait & see unless a liberal engine warranty is offered. Again shows doo locked in to 2s engines for some time forward.

RE: What Is Next For 2009?

Went in for 500 mile check & oil change. We softened transfer & spring preload on EC GT. All the mags said Attacks were bottoming rear suspension. Not happening in real world & I'm 230lbs geared up & never hit bottom once. Once I get the rear tuned in this sled will be a dream machine. So far in 525 miles zero problems so Yamaha quality is the real deal. No recalls no updates just ride sled & fine tune handling adjustments. What a pleasure to not worry about burndowns. Gauge tells all just like car & easy to use. So far so good next 500 miles I should have this sled fine tuned for me. Usually takes me a year to get a new sled tuned for me but curve is moving quicker with Attack.
